{"id":33159,"date":"2023-01-10T13:41:30","date_gmt":"2023-01-10T18:41:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/globalwellnessinstitute.org\/global-wellness-institute-blog\/2023\/01\/10\/social-impact-initiative-trends-for-2022-copy\/"},"modified":"2024-12-10T14:13:41","modified_gmt":"2024-12-10T19:13:41","slug":"social-impact-initiative-trends-for-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/globalwellnessinstitute.org\/global-wellness-institute-blog\/2023\/01\/10\/social-impact-initiative-trends-for-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Social Impact Initiative Trends for 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong>Social Impact<\/strong> Initiative<\/h1>\n<h2 style=\"font-size: 36px; line-height: 38px; color: #00b9ad;\">2021 Trends<\/h2>\n<h3>Corporate Social Responsibility<\/h3>\n<h3>TREND 1: CSR is an Expectation Not a \u201cNice to Have\u201d<\/h3>\n<p>Corporate social responsibility is becoming a greater expectation rather than an added benefit to a company\u2019s value proposition.<\/p>\n<h3>TREND 2: Putting Investments to Work in a Way That Truly Matters<\/h3>\n<p>Impact investing\u00a0is the one sector of venture capital that has been growing exponentially.<\/p>\n<h3>TREND 3: Purpose and Fulfillment Lead<\/h3>\n<p>Millennials and Gen Z would rather have purpose and fulfillment over financial security but lately have been pressing firms for both.<\/p>\n<h3>TREND 4: Climate Change is Front and Center<\/h3>\n<p>Environmental catastrophes have\u00a0created immediate action with corporate social responsibility managers to address climate change.<\/p>\n<h3>TREND 5: The Impact of Covid<\/h3>\n<p>Taking care of the wellbeing of employees with a strong focus on mental health will be even more important this year than ever before.<\/p>\n<h3>TREND 6: Corporations Embrace Activism<\/h3>\n<p>In the context of Black Lives Matter, more businesses are taking action to address systemic racism inside their operations and in communications to consumers.<\/p>\n<h3>Social Impact<\/h3>\n<h3>TREND 1: The Human Aggregation Business Will Bounce Back<\/h3>\n<p>If being isolated these past nine months has shown us anything, it has illuminated how much we value being with other people.\u00a0This means eating in restaurants, attending concerts, watching live sports, and\u2014most importantly\u2014old-fashioned volunteer projects. Prior to 2020, traditional volunteering had been poo-pooed in favor of skills-based work that has more \u201cimpact.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Toward the end of 2021, traditional volunteering\u2014that is, getting into a community with a lot of people to help\u2014will be very much in vogue as we remember that impact goes both directions. Helping nonprofits and other community organizations helps them for sure, but it helps the helpers even more. It turns out we need that connection\u2014that physical connection\u2014with each other.<\/p>\n<h3>TREND 2: Geography Continues to Gain Importance<\/h3>\n<p>We have all been forced to be where we are.\u00a0We have Zoomed ourselves into oblivion, but in the end, we are where we live.<\/p>\n<p>People are on the move since they can work from anywhere. People are also trying to help their local businesses, restaurants, and community organizations stay afloat during these uncertain times. From our point of view, caring about the state of your local community is a good thing.<\/p>\n<p>Social impact has been trending local for many years, and this trend will continue. International causes will remain important, but people want to get face to face with the organizations they are helping. \u201cWho can we help in the communities where we operate?\u201d will be a key question in 2021.<\/p>\n<h3>TREND 3: The Purpose Economy Will Accelerate<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Every time we have seen a change in the investment and activity around social impact, it is after a major crisis.<\/strong><br \/>\nThe pandemic is something that everyone has felt in one way or another. These macro events typically cause people to put their lives into some context. That includes assessing where individuals work and who they buy from. The private sector is on notice to be more responsive to the needs of stakeholders rather than just shareholders.
