This section summarizes a sampling of five studies \u2013 providing just a taste of the available research.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pilates Effective for Reducing Pain from Scoliosis<\/strong><br \/>A review of a study of female college students conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of Pilates in reducing the degree of non-structural scoliosis (and improving flexibility and pain) demonstrated that the Pilates method showed improvement across all three categories.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/22464116\">Access this Pilates study<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Pilates Compares Favorably with Massage for Near-Term LBP<\/strong><br \/>A 2014 systematic review of 14 randomized controlled trials found that Pilates provided significant improvements in pain and functional ability for people with chronic lower back pain compared to usual care and physical activity between 4 and 15 weeks \u2013 but not at 24 weeks.
