On February 11, 2015, the nonprofit Global Wellness Institute (GWI) launched a new, free health resource,  WellnessEvidence.com<\/a><\/strong>, the first website to provide direct access to the current medical evidence for mainstream wellness approaches.  The platform, which resides on the Global Wellness Institute website, is designed to make it easier for the millions of people seeking alternative health solutions, for medical professionals selecting courses of treatment,  for companies designing employee wellness programs, and for the media and practitioners to research wellness alternatives at the most authoritative sources of evidence-based medicine.<\/p>\n

Wellness Evidence was introduced at an important GWI roundtable on the topic of the \u201cScience of Wellness\u201d held in New York City in 2015. It expands the Institute\u2019s mission to empower wellness worldwide by educating the public and private sectors about preventative health and wellness. <\/p>\n

Integrative medicine experts Kenneth R. Pelletier, MD, Daniel Friedland, MD and Marc Cohen, MD are medical consultants for Wellness Evidence. They were essential in shaping this platform, selecting the databases and ensuring that the information and research process follows the medical establishment\u2019s use of evidence-based medicine. \u00a0According to Susie Ellis, chair and CEO of the GWI, wellness is a multitrillion-dollar global economy. However, with explosive consumer markets and potential misinformation on unproven wellness fads, so-called miracle cures can spawn. \u201cWellness Evidence gives consumers access to the same databases doctors use and is a much-needed, \u2018spin-free\u2019 wellness research zone, \u201d said Ellis.<\/p>\n
